Reasons why to watch MotoGP in 2017

maverick_test_listopad_2016Season 2016 was amazing but I am sure something amazing will come also in the upcoming season. There are lots of things we should follow and focus on. So I’ve made a list of a few reasons why you shouldn’t miss the season 2017.

Riders’ changes

Yes I know, there were already lots of discussions about the riders’ changes. But why not to repeat it once again. Jorge Lorenzo is already Ducati rider, Maverick Viñales belongs to Yamaha. Many things were said and written about these two changes. All fans are curious about how these two will do in their new teams, the expectations are quite high.

But there are some more changes which are worth to watch. Andrea Iannone came to Suzuki so now we only can wonder how he will do there. I am also quite curious about Aleix Espargaró at Aprilia.

Team Aspar completely changed their line up.

Four rookies

In 2016 there was only one rookie but in 2017 there will be even four rookies so it will be very exciting to watch which one will be the best of them. Of course, it is also quite hard to compare them as they will be racing in different teams, at different bikes. Actually two of the rookies will have the same conditions.

Johann Zarco (Moto2 World Champion 2015 and 2016) and Jonas Folger will be team mates at Yamaha Tech 3. Let’s wait and see how this thing with two newcomers will work for the team.

Alex Rins will race for Suzuki and will be Iannone’s team mate. That’s interesting pair, I am quite curious about how these two will cooperate.

Sam Lowes will be at Aprilia.

What do you think? Who of these four great racers has the biggest chance to be best of them? And do you think any of them would be able to challenge even the biggest MotoGP stars in the front?

KTM is coming

Yes, the Austrian manufacturer enters MotoGP. In 2016 they did wild card appearance in Valencia with Mika Kallio. But it wasn’t as easy as they thought. There were plenty of things to work on. So let’s hope they were working on it and soon in the pre-season tests we will see what they was able to do and change and how they are prepared.  The Finnish rider remains as test rider but the racing riders there will be Pol Espargaró and Bradley Smith who know each other very well as they were team mates at Tech 3 Yamaha for years!

10th World title for Rossi? 6th World title for Márquez or Lorenzo?

The question is here. Will Valentino Rossi be able to take his 10th World title? Or will Márquez win his 6th title? Or will Lorenzo take his 6th title? It will be interesting to watch the battle as it looks like the favourites are same as last year. But, Lorenzo will be at Ducati and you never know how it will suit him. The upcoming pre-season tests can indicate something. So let’s wait and see.

But there is another question. Will be there new World Champion? Will be there anyone who would take his first ever World title? Well, of course, first name which came to my mind is Maverick Vñales. He will be racing in great team, I expect that the bike will be competitive and that Maverick will be very equal rival to his team mate Valentino Rossi.

Of course it wouldn’t be Maverick’s first ever World title, he is already Moto3 World Champion from 2013 but it would be his first ever title in the premier class.

Maybe Andrea Dovizioso will attack the world title as well? Who knows, maybe Ducati will be back on top and both their riders will be title contenders.

And what about Pedrosa? Are his best years and biggest chances already behind him or is he still here to fight?

Lots of questions on my mind and I can’t wait when it all will start and we will be receiving the answers slowly.

10 winners in one season?

Last year we saw the record of 9 different race winners. So is it possible to even improve it and have 10 different winners? Anything is possible but I personally don’t think so. But before 2016 I also didn’t believe we could have 9 different winners.

Well, there is high chance of 6 different winners for sure (both Yamaha riders, both Honda riders, both Ducati riders), maybe Iannone with Suzuki (or even Rins?), maybe Cal Crutchlow with his LCR Honda, maybe some surprises in crazy weather conditions. So yeah, actually we could see 10 different winners!

So the MotoGP world is slowly waking up as some teams’ presentations will be soon. Already this week there are planned two of them (at least from what I know). On Thursday January 19th there will be Yamaha official presentation and on Friday 20th there will be Ducati presentation. So fans are all very curious and can’t wait to see Viñales in Yamaha colours and Lorenzo in Ducati colours. Then on February 3rd the Repsol Honda presentation is planned.

Also the pre-season tests are around the corner. It all starts on January 30th in Sepang (Malaysia). It will be 3 days of testing.

Later then there will be tests at Phillip Island (Australia) and Losail (Qatar). Season 2017 kicks off on Thursday March 23rd with the free practises in Qatar.
